The one-step process to making your next move eco-friendly

Getting rid of old office furniture is never an easy process. Whether you are planning an office move and want to start fresh in the new space, or even are simply looking for an upgrade, figuring out what to do with those old desks and workstations is a headache in itself. But before you toss your old office furniture in the landfill, Rightsize can help you responsibly dispose of unwanted furniture and materials to help you minimize your impact on the environment.

The EPA estimates that businesses discard approximately 3 million tons of furniture each year, as noted in GreenBiz.com. This is a huge number that can be drastically reduced by properly disposing of your old office furniture. “Remanufacturing just 40 cubicles diverts one tractor-trailer load of furniture from a landfill,” says GreenBiz.com. With the power of our industry experts and eco-friendly approach, we make every attempt to resell, repurpose, or donate your unwanted office accessories. If any product can’t be used or salvaged, we make sure it is disposed in compliance with environmental regulations. By joining us in our commitment to recycling office furniture you will also save money from the disposal process.

Rightsize upholds a sustainable commitment which supports the asset life cycle of the each furniture, furnishings, and equipment (FF&E) that Rightsize manages. The life cycle works as follows:

  1. We take a look at the FF&E and assess it’s current state and resale value. The asset is cleaned thoroughly and tuned-up before being sold “as is” on the secondhand market.
  2. If the piece is worn and needs a bit more love, Rightsize extends the life by remanufacturing. We reupholster, refinish and replace broken parts; then we reassess as done in Step 1.
  3. Items that have limited resale value but maintain their basic functionality are cleaned and donated to not-for-profit organizations.
  4. Assets that have little hope are disassembled and used for parts by the remanufacturing team.
  5. Finally, all remaining sustainable materials are recycled. We use EPA-certified methods to rid of technology equipment left in a decommissioned space. Our efforts reduce the amount of non-biodegradable material in the landfills and prevent data from ending up in the wrong hands. Less than 5% of FF&E assets end up at a landfill.
