Meet the Team is the Rightsize way of showcasing the people who make our organization so successful. One person we couldn't live without is Executive Vice President, Mark Awtry. Celebrating his seventh anniversary with Rigthsize this month, here are a few reasons why he is such a critical part of our team.
Name: Mark Awtry
Age: Old enough to know better but young enough to try new things
Title: Executive Vice President
Time at Rightsize: 7 years this month
Tell us about your job in your own words: As EVP I get involved in a little bit of everything – from sales, to managing activities, to solving problems, to helping push the organization forward. I have a pretty dynamic and challenging job.
What is the best part of your job? Working with good people; being part of successful projects; finding better ways to do things; getting stuff done.
What is one way you have made a difference at Rightsize? I like to think I make a difference every day. The great thing about a young company (10 years now) is that nothing is set in stone – we have the flexibility to implement things we think could make us stronger – and change them if they don’t.
What’s one thing that your coworkers would be surprised to know about you? That I’m really low-key and not very opinionated! I always wanted to be a jazz night club singer – not sure why it appealed to me – could have been all the old movies I saw growing up. The problem is that I have no musical talent so that line of work wouldn’t have been too lucrative for me.
If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be? Igetthingsdone (is that a word?). MrFixIt applies equally well.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work? Hang-out with my wife and grown kids when they are around; and ride my Harley and play a little golf when there is time.
Life mantra/Favorite quote: Give it your all. Play to win. Don’t cut corners. Help others be successful. Be respectful. Apply humor liberally. Don’t take yourself so seriously. Enjoy life and be grateful what you have.
That pretty much sums it up. To learn more about Mark and Rightsize, connect with him on LinkedIn.
