How to make the most of your time at the office
We are halfway through February and the cold weather is starting to take its toll on workplace productivity. But that doesn’t have to be the case. We have some tips for how to be more productive at the office, from task management to getting more comfortable at your desk. Don’t succumb to the winter blues this year, and instead focus on how you can be more productive at the office.
Tips for being more productive at work
Maximize productive work hours: Every person has hours of the day where their energy is at its highest and brain power is at a maximum. Take advantage of those power-hours and tackle the work that requires the most thought. If that timeframe is first thing in the morning, then hold off on getting through emails until later in the day, and instead focus on running those financials you’ve been putting off. By saving the tasks that come more naturally to you for later in the day when energy might be the lowest, you will give your efficiency a real boost.
Group together similar tasks: One great way to stay on top of things at work is to group tasks that require the same school of thinking. Rather than jumping around from finance to writing to business development, tackle a group of tasks at one time that require the same brain waves to complete. This will make it much easier to get in the zone and make that to-do list disappear.
Get comfortable: Knocking the task list out of the park is basically impossible if your back and bum are aching from an uncomfortable task chair. Think about investing in an ergonomic office chair that will keep your body supported and comfortable throughout the work day. And while you’re at it, take a few minutes to make your workplace appealing. Add a pop of color to your desk with some photos or a plant. By making the space feel more comfortable, it will make the process of staying focused much more attainable.
