A Custom Closet Company Makes the Most of Its Space

When a Chicago-based custom closet company decided to upgrade the furniture and office space planning of its headquarters, its president turned to Rightsize to develop an attractive and affordable solution.

The president of the company already had a clear idea of what he wanted: an airy, fresh look to complement a new brand vision. The company was also anticipating future growth and needed to maximize seating in the existing space.

The project focused primarily on revamping the customer service area, while also updating parts of its engineering and design departments.

The customer service area featured large, 15-year-old workstations – many vacant – that appeared outdated and didn’t make the best use of the space. Rightsize implemented a BLENDED SOLUTION to decrease the size of each workstation and to create a more cohesive, modern look for the office. Rightsize used compact, refurbished Herman Miller workstations, as well as panels with a lower height to allow for more visibility. Glass cap tiles and lighter finishes added to the bright, open look.

“It was a great transformation, resulting in a much more collaborative environment,” said Workplace Solutions Manager Heather Conard. “The open customer service area allows people in the private offices around the perimeter to work directly with the internal customer service team, as well as the engineering and design teams. But there’s still a semi-private atmosphere for concentrated work.”

Rightsize worked with the company to convert unused space into a training room. It serves as a gathering area for the sales team, based in a separate downtown office, and members of other departments at headquarters.

The client’s engineering department is going through a period of ongoing expansion, and it needed more space to grow. Rightsize addressed this challenge by renovating the department, moving doors and opening up different areas in order to maximize seating. Since the completion of this project, the department has already outgrown the upgraded space, and Rightsize is starting on a second phase to add space for even more employees.
