Rightsize walks through some of the best options for updating your existing office furniture.
Fall is almost here and that means it’s time for a new look — for your office furniture, that is. A drab office can be completely uninspiring for both you and your employees. The question is, how do you give your furniture a facelift without breaking the bank?
Rightsize Senior Account Manager Shannon Filo says that it’s easier than you think. Start by focusing on stand alone pieces, like couches, plush chairs and lounge areas. Reupholstering those pieces to create more modern or vibrant pieces can give your office space a new and improved look. “We do it all in house and could turn them around as quickly as 2-3 weeks,” says Filo. New fabric can make a big difference, and is by far the most cost effective way of sprucing up an office interior. Add fun throw pillows to bring in an extra pop of color.
Then, think about other furniture items like lateral files. Those can be repainted or the laminate tops modified to create something more modern. A quick update would be to swap it out with something a little more neutral. Then, you can use vibrant accessories to make the space feel more updated, while using a timeless backdrop. “Simple things to add jazz to your desk could be as simple as adding a unique lamp to change the look of it,” says Filo.
For those looking for more of a dramatic change, taking your existing workstations and giving them a more updated look is totally doable. Depending on the manufacturer, the panels and the fabric on the workstations can be swapped out for different colors and materials. “That process is a little bit more involved because we have to come in and basically disassemble the workstation,” says Filo. But while it’s complicated, it can be a very cost effective way of updating your office look without buying all new materials.
